Age of Empires Mobile Tutorial Walkthrough

So you’ve downloaded the very popular new game Age of Empires mobile and want to test it out and see how it works. 

Currently, you are logged in and are presented with some great cinematography. There is a short tutorial that we will walk you through here. You can also just follow the instructions on-screen. The only thing you should NOT do is use any speed-ups when asked. Save those for later. 🙂

The basic tutorial will end when you reach City Level 4 and enter the Feudal Age. Minor story spoilers ahead, folks!

Start of the Age of Empires Mobile Tutorial

The game starts with you crossing a bridge and learning how to move your character around. This is pretty basic stuff, and if you’ve played any game similar to this before, you shouldn’t find it too difficult.

After another short cinematography, the game gets you familiar with building a small camp. This is mostly automated for now, but it starts the process of what is to come.

 You will then have your first battle with Urdin. Battling is pretty straightforward. You simply drag your army into the area where the enemy Army is located.

After you complete this battle, you will be required to build your first swordsman barrack.  Click on the small yellow hammer, and then when it is completed, you will be required to train some more units for battle. More story videos to enjoy!

You will then have a slightly larger battle with two of your armies.  It is nothing too difficult; you will just need to coordinate an attack against the tower when the yellow pop-up appears on the screen.

You will now have a slightly larger battle against a different commander and be required to activate your commander skill to interupt theirs.

Once completed a small chest on the left side will appear and you should open it to get the Broken Holy Sword! Congratulations Commander.

It is time to Build some Age of Empires Cities

Now, the city building really begins. First, you will repair the Town Center, train some more villagers, and then build your first house.

Part of Age of Empire Mobile is assigning workers to various tasks. The game will walk you through picking berries, farming land, and building faster. 

Continue to follow along with the on-screen tasks, but remember you do NOT want to use your speed-up rewards. This will happen with the town center taking 6 minutes to get to level 3 or 12 minutes to get to level 4. 

Set Sail for More Fighting

You will then be asked to set sail on a ship and start an on-screen different type of battle. The idea is the same: drag your character to the enemy team. You can reposition your commander on the board for a better vantage point from which to attack if you would like. 

After the battle, you will have your first recruitment hero, which will be Joan of Arc for absolutely everyone. If you are lucky, you will get another hero here (not likely) and, more likely, three other random rewards.

After Joan of Arc, you will have some more battles, more building, more farming, and more leveling. Follow all the on-screen instructions. 

Leveling your AOEM Hero

Finally, the game will ask you to level the main hero. You will need to do this to advance the story, but only put three into the character so you can advance without wasting rewards.

Finally, you will need to upgrade your city hall to level 4 and Enter the Feudal Age.

After the timer is done, you will receive many advancements and get access to most of the game.

Pre-Registration Rewards

Now that you have completed the basic tutorial, you will be able to switch servers, receive your pre-registration rewards, and perform other account-related activities.

I want to Switch To Another AoEM Server and Play with My Friends

All players will need to complete the tutorial first and be placed on the newest server. Once you complete the tutorial to spot that we have shown above, you can go into settings and switch servers.

If you want to play with your friends make sure you do not do anything beyond this tutorial. Any progress that you make from this point on will not be carried to any other server. So you don’t want to spend anything if you’re going to try and meet up on a different server with your friends.  Make sure you are all on the same server before you continue your progression (unless you just testing things out).
