Let’s get started on this Game of Vampires Best Wardens Guide. Are you new to Game of Vampires, or have you been playing it for a few months? Who are the best wardens to level? What should you do with your resources? What are the different strategies? Let’s get to it.
Important Note Before We Get Into It
Game of Vampires is a mobile GAME. Game is the keyword here. Although some things, when understood, may allow you to level up or do better in Game Of Vampires, overall, it IS a game, and you can play it however you choose. People will have different play styles and want to focus on different things, even IF it may not be the absolute best “math” way. Keep that in mind as you review this guide; they are just suggestions. Play however you like that allows you to have fun.
Make sure you understand the three things you level up in Game of Vampires with our Beginner’s guide.
Big hat top to Veidrykt Julie for much of what this guide was based on!

Let’s Talk About Warden’s Potential and Limits…
Not all Wardens are created equal. Some can grow bigger than others at max stats, so for the long game, this tells us who we want to focus on first. Here are the key things to note…
- Every Warden can be raised to Warden Level 450.
- Every Warden can level each Talent to 320 (When Warden levels are maxed).
- Every Warden has the same Skill options for Arena, each capping at level 200.
- Every Warden has no limit cap on books
- Every Scarlet Bond (between Warden and Lover) is capped at level 600
- All Aura’s cap at level 20 (except Nyx)
Because of these limits… No growth is ultimately wasted. Any upgrade you have made to any warden adds to your total scores. If you have heavily invested in one Warden, it might be best to continue to level them to their maximum potential. You are competing with everyone on the server (except hopefully your guild, where you can cooperate.)
If you are finding this guide a month in, fear not. IT MAY NOT BE BEST TO SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT WARDEN. But it also might make sense to do just that….
Let’s Break Down the Growth Potential of Wardens
There are several things to look at when looking at the growth Potential of Game of Vampires Wardens.
Stars
Stars do not show ultimate potential. They show a rough estimate of base stats. Some 5-star Wardens can ultimately max out in Dominance before some 4-star Wardens. Many 5-star Wardens have very weak Power potential. Do not depend entirely on stars to choose which wardens to level.
There is one rule here, though. Do not invest in 2-star Wardens. They do not have good talent potential and are underpowered overall. If you are one of those unfortunate people who has heavily invested in Ulfred (He seems to be a popular early choice). You should in fact Switch to someone else. The same goes for any other 2-star warden. Cut your losses and pick a different warden from the rest of this guide… Otherwise…
Total Talent Stars – Dominance Potential
Looking at the Talent screen, each Talent shows a star with a multiplier under the Attribute symbol. Add up all of these multipliers. That’s the single most significant indicator of Dominance potential. The higher the number, the better. (Total Talent Stars range from 10 to 140)
Total Strength Stars – Power Potential
Add up the multipliers for Strength Talents Only, which tells you how much power potential this warden has. (Total Strength Talent Stars range from 1 to 35)
Star Multipliers do NOT show total potential. Some Examples:
A 6 Talent star Strength has less dominance and power Potential than a Warden with 4 Talent star and 3 Talent star.
A Warden with only a 6-star Talent has more potential than one with a 3-star Talent and a 2-star Talent.
This extremely helpful guide from DAXANA on the main GOV discord server explains everything you need to know. All credit to them.
Stars Summary
Depending on your play style, you will want to focus on the Warden with the highest total Star Talents in the Specialty areas you are trying to focus on.
Class/Specialty
Class/specialty equally does not show which warden you want to level up first but is helpful for where to look first.
Each warden has a set number of Talent Stars. The Class tells you which Talent area will get the most percentage of those Stars and which attributes will go up most when the Warden is leveled.
Example: Gilgamesh has Allure and Intellect Specialty. He has the most talented stars in those two fields, and when you use a book on those attributes on him, you get slightly more than the book amount each time.
Note: This is why the “all” class is deceptive; it does not include any bonus. Except for some of the top overpowered “all” Wardens, the numbers get averaged out and end up not being as great as the other specialty class wardens.
Power focus?
A warden with a strength specialty and also a secondary class will be good for BOTH Power and Dominance because they have the bonus in both of the things needed for Power and Dominance. This is especially noticeable in the Catacombs.
Lovers
If the Warden has a lover, this can significantly help you in Dominance by using the Scarlet Bond. (It WILL NOT influence Power, only Dominance).
Auras
Some Warden’s have an aura. Some Auras boost all Wardens and, therefore, have no impact on potential. Others boost their specific Summon group and give an advantage to those Wardens. Some boost only themselves, providing a Dominance advantage. (No influence on Power)
Skins
Some characters have skins. Lover skins do NOT affect potential, only the speed of growth. Warden skins DO technically increase potential, but only by a very small amount. The bigger skin boost is from the collect experience it unlocks (shown in the Botique/Ledger system), which boosts all Wardens, so it does not affect potential.
Warden Information and PlayStyle Choices
All your unlocked wardens are used in Fishing, Dark Chasm, Web of Shadows, Bloodtide, and Explore.
Then, where to focus is broken down as follows:
- 16 Wardens for Catacombs (starting with four and unlocking backup slots to boost them)
- 10 Wardens for Rite of War
- 1 Power hitter to attempt the final hit on Chiropteran Titan
There are roughly 3 Different Ways you can choose to play Game of Vampires.
- Raise 4 Wardens at once. One for each Attribute
- Raise all Wardens at once.
- Raise just one Warden Big hitter.
I recommend picking 4 Wardens you can access, one for each attribute, and leveling them up. Raising all wardens at once will likely cause you to run out of equipment. One major hitter can be very helpful for the Titan last hit event, but ultimately will cause you to lag behind in other events like catacombs, rite of war etc.
Which Warden’s Should I Upgrade with Warden Equipment?
Although, at the start of the game, it will feel like you have all the Warden equipment needed to level everyone you want. Warden equipment will become rarer as you progress through the game, and you will constantly need more.
To raise one Warden from level 0 to 450, it will cost 7,959 for each of the three pieces of Warden Equipment. This means you do not want to waste them.
You should try to pick a few key Wardens to upgrade exclusively.
Which Warden’s Should I Level?
As mentioned, your Star 2 wardens will never be worth anything. Because of that, some users choose not to level these types of wardens past level 60. These ‘weak wardens’ will never appear in the Arena then.
Most users choose to level all wardens until they reach level 100. This will help them increase their Dominance and resource generation via their increased attributes and decrease the number of bats used in the Explore area. This strategy will give you an overall higher Dominance/Power, and this boost can help you out in earlier events.
Neither strategy is wrong; it is just a matter of play style. Generally, leveling everyone beyond level 100 that does not fit your play style above will ultimately cause you to lag behind other players on your server.
Which Wardens Are the Best to Level in Game of Vampires?
If you have skipped to this section to see what you should do without looking into the other sections, that is ok. But do know if who you have focused your energy on is not on the list, we recommend it MAY still be better to continue leveling your character.
How you want to play the game and how your guild plays will help you decide.
A player in a smaller, less competitive guild might focus more on Power to maximize the results from daily tasks like Fishing, Dark Chasm, and Exploring. A player in a bigger, more competitive guild might focus more on Dominance to maximize results in Rite of War, Arena, etc.
Here is the Tier List of Paid and Unpaid Wardens – A few solid choices for each Specialty. If you pay and have access to the pay characters, they will be better than the free ones listed. It will also depend on who you have leveled up already.

A good all-around strategy for leveling Power and Domanace Equally Play Style
- You can pick any four wardens you want from the list above and focus on one specialty at a time until you have maxed out all four.
- TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE LEVELING UP POWER STRATEGY – Save your Talent XP(from Arena, gym, scrolls) and use it on Strength for specifically your main Wardens, but also every other warden in the game. Level their Strength talents and ONLY strength with points. Your main 4 guys will take care of your other stats.
- Use a script type on each of the various scripts in their resource. (Say you have 5 scripts of Intellect. You pick Thomas. Use 1 script in each one of the 3 Intellect talents he has. And then put 1 in the higher chance one and 1 in the lowest chance one – Change this strategy to whichever way you see fit.) Each scroll use has an odds chance. How much you want to bet is totally up to you.
- Use all of your matching books on each specialty warden to match their resource.
Should I switch or keep playing the same Best Warden I have put a lot in?
Let’s say you found this guide at about a month in of playing. You have heavily invested into Lorenzo for Intellect. You have also just unlocked Thomas from VIP spending. Should you switch? Yes. Thomas is going to give you much better results in everything in the long run, and a month is not a lot of time.
Different situation….
You have heavily invested in Hawker and just unlocked Rudra. Should you switch? Probably not. Both Rudra and Hawker have the same number of strength talents. Ultimately Rudra has a little bit more total potential… but not where you should be switching out your power hitter.
One more Game of Vampires Best Warden situation…..
You have gone all in on Carmilla. She is a level 3 all-character. Should you switch to someone else? Like Rudra as your main hitter/power/strength? Yes. Rudra will do better than Carmilla in the grand scheme of strength cause he gets a bonus on strength book use.
All of these situations really depend on your personal preference, how far you are into leveling, and if you are ok with taking a dip in rankings for a week or two while you shift gears to maybe come out on top later. Re-read the more detailed guide above to make better sense of the Best Warden for you.
Final Thoughts on Game of Vampires Best Warden to Level Guide?
You ultimately will decide how you want to play. This is just a guideline from the main server who has been playing a long time and my observations and testing after a few months of playing. I hope you found this guild helpful in choosing how to level your wardens in Game of Vampires.
